The year in detail
As described on the school's own website. A missing heading means their site didn't say.
- Dates
- 5787 (2026-27): arrival August 24, 2026; orientation August 25-26; first day of classes August 27, 2026; spring semester begins January 17, 2027; closing banquet June 13, 2027; dormitory closes June 17, 2027 (calendar marked subject to change).
- A typical day
- Classes run Sunday to Thursday in two-hour slots, half of each spent in chavruta preparation: morning seder, a midday break, afternoon seder, dinner, and night seder in the Beit Medrash. One afternoon a week is for chessed, one night is chugim, one night is a student-run mishmar, and one night is free.
- Shabbat
- Most Shabbatonim are off campus in communities around the country. There are 4 'In Shabbatot' in the dorm with programming; Rosh Hashanah and Shavuot are spent at MMY. The school says it supervises but does not police students' Shabbat plans, and parents must be consulted.
- Trips
- Day tiyulim around the country and three 3-4 day overnights (north and south). The 5787 calendar also lists a Poland trip and Yam L'Yam during the Pesach break.
- Chesed and volunteering
- One afternoon a week (Wednesday) is given to volunteering: hospital visits at Ein Kerem, medical clowning, helping children and adults with special needs, 'Adopt a bubby', Keren Or center for the blind, Ezrat Avot food packing, an old age home in Baka, Kfar Yeladim, Chayeinu and others.
- Rules they publish
- All travel decisions must be made with parents' permission; school trips outside populated areas are coordinated with Moked Teva.
- After the year
- Shana Bet has its own classes, tiyulim, staff and leadership roles; a half-year 'Shana Bet Bet' option runs January-June; there is a JCT-Machon Tal joint program for Shana Bet. MMY is part of the Yeshiva University S. Daniel Abraham Joint Israel Program and the Touro College Israel Option, and is affiliated with MASA. An alumnae department runs shabbatonim, shiurim and tiyulim.
